Trunk Shows

Stephanie’s Trunk Shows are 45 minute presentations, allowing for questions from the audience. These trunk shows highlight original designs as well as quilts made from popular patterns. Stephanie delights in talking about inspiration, methodology, challenges and successes during the course of creating quilts.

Plus
Challenge Accepted
Like many quilters, Stephanie started her quilting journey by making quilts for other people. After a few years of quilting she realized she had not kept any of her quilts. Most of her early quilts were utilitarian, and often baby quilts. As Stephanie got involved with guilds, she realized she was drawn to the group challenges. Basic rules and guidelines were set and then the magic would begin. These are the quilts Stephanie kept and this trunk show features them. Also included are Bee, Round Robin and Row by Row style quilts which highlight the interaction between a group of quilters. This plus quilt is an original design, featuring 30s reproduction fabrics.

Boho
Monkey Business
Like many quilters, Stephanie loves the Churn Dash, aka Monkey Wrench, quilt block. This popular block packs a lot of punch and the ways in which they can be set is vast. The Churn Dash trunk show follows the history of the block, featuring some vintage quilts, transitioning into quilts made from contemporary patterns and fabrics, and explores improvisational quilts featuring this diverse block. Examples of how churn dash blocks can be incorporated into clothing is also shown. The heart quilt is Jen Kingwell’s Boho Heart pattern, with all the blocks in the pattern replaced with churn dash blocks featuring fussy-cut Tula Pink fabrics.
